Holiday Update!

Hello very very loyal readers.  Sorry for the long long long time between posts, but I seriously didn't see this whole holiday craziness coming.  Seriously!  Between Mama's birthday, Christmas with Mimi and Pop, and then another Christmas with Grandmoms and Grandpops, it has been an unbelievably busy couple of weeks!

Here's me and Mama on her birthday.  They have this weird thing with wrapping up this orange hat every year as a gag gift.  Pops says I look like Kubla Kahn.

Snuggling with Dad on his favorite couch at Mimi and Pop's:

Me and Ali Cat and my cousins Evan and Macy.  Ali is Aunt Holly's best friend's daughter.

Evan was really nice and played with me a lot!

Aunt Holly and Uncle Paul got me this sweet bear outfit!  It's so soft and warm.

Aunt Holly was nice and let me eat her remote!

Christmas Morning

Dad got carried away when throwing out used wrapping paper:

Me and Mimi and Pop in their new house:

This is me and my dad's best friend, Greg and his son Luke.  We met for Thai food, but those meanies wouldn't give me any coconut ice cream.

Bath time!

Me and mama and dad's friend Derek (aka the Dirkie)

Kim and I try to figure each other out.  She calls me Muffin.

Did I mention that I am now mobile?  Yep, I started crawling on Dec. 31st.  Towards the computer.  And mama.  They'll never stop me now! Bwahhahahahah!

I also have lots of video to load up, as soon as I figure this YouTube thingie out.  Stay tuned for Why I Hate Bananas and A Treatise on Why Wrapping Paper is the Best Thing Ever.

Until then I remain your humble adorable baby,

Some New Faces

Greetings loyal readers!

Just a quick update to showcase some new facial expressions I've been trying out. Let me know which is your favorite!

(By the way, Mama wants me to tell you all that anyone can comment on my blog - you don't have to have a Blogger account. Just make sure you sign your name so I know who you are!)

I've been working on my Fire Breathing Dragon faces, in which I also huff and puff through my nose while looking very menacing:
But then when Mama kisses my tummy it spoils the effect!
Here's what Mama and Dad annoyingly refer to as my "boo-boo" face. This is the face that I make when I'm hungry, tired, wet, feeling ignored or bored, or any combination of these.
This is my "Thanks Dad for throwing me up in the air" face!

Other than trying on new faces, I've also been trying on some new shoes. Dad's in this case.
Here's me reaching for Harry Potter before Dad can hide it from me. He hates Harry Potter. Mama calls him The Ultimate Scrooge.
Ok, well gotta go, the cat's bugging me to take a nap with her again. She is so bossy, seriously.
Until next time, I remain your humble adorable baby,
Silas T.

Tofurkey Day Update!

Hello friends and family, Silas T. Hickox here to update you on my life as a baby for the past two weeks.

One thing that happened is that Mama and Dad took me to see the funny man with the mustache who always pokes stuff in my ears and looks inside my diaper - oh, and he makes those mean ladies poke me in the thighs with sharp sticks that make me cry! But never too long, because I'm a Big Boy. Anyway, he told Mama and Dad that I weigh 17 lbs 7 oz and am 26 inches long. Woo boy, did I say I was a big boy or what?!? I am in the 75th percentile for both height and weight (whatever the heck that means).

Here's me looking big and strong!
Since I'm such a big boy now, I'm learning to sit up all by myself. It is so cool!

It's getting cold here in Michigan, so Mama and Dad decided I needed warm furry things to keep me from being cold when we go outside. Why oh why do they confuse me with a little bear? Please, if you know, write in and tell me. Because right now I just think Mama and Dad are extremely, um, "special" if you know what I mean.

Dad, all I need is a ride in your coat! Duh!
I almost forgot, today is Tofurkey Day! Mama and Dad and I don't eat turkeys, we adopt them, apparently. We picked out this Turkey, Hildy, and sponsored her through Adopt-A-Turkey. Isn't she cute?
Mama also let me play with my new favorite toy, the whisk, between gravy stirrings. Yum!
Mama and Dad and I were busy in the kitchen all morning, making Tofurkey, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, cran-orange relish, "crapple" (seriously, people, they eat weird things), green beans, rosemary-potato rolls (that looked like piles of dog doo but supposedly were tasty) and mushroom gravy. I can't wait until I'm allowed to eat real food!

Mama also made this Pumpkin-Tofu Cheesecake (with no cheese) that looked really good too. Big people get all the good stuff!
I tried to use my mind control powers on them to give me some, but it didn't work out. Yet.
Dad tried to explain that one day I'll only eat big people food and won't eat Mama's milk anymore. I was like, "Yeah, that's a pretty funny story Dad! If that is your real name..."

All that work in the kitchen stirring gravy and all I got was this lousy rattle to chew on.

Well, Mama did offer me some milk as a consolation prize. It was quite a good vintage!
And with that, I will remain until next time, your humble adorable baby,
Silas T. Hickox

More from Oregon!

Dear Readers,

Silas T. Hickox here, to update you on my visit to Oregon. It's still pretty cool here. Grandpops and the Crazy Singing Lady (aka Grandmoms) are treating me like the best thing since sliced bread!

The other day Grandpops and Mama put together my Oregon High Chair. What an educational experience for me!

I learned all kinds of new words, like "aich". As in, "What the 'aich' is that diagram supposed to mean?" Oh, and "eff" and "ess." As in "Where the 'eff' does this peice of 'ess' fit into the picture?"

They were pretty proud of themselves when the chair was all put together. I didn't know what the big deal was. I mean, have they seen some of the things I've produced in my diapers? Seriously. That's work.

But the chair is pretty cool, I like being able to see everybody coming and going.
There are these totally bizarre creatures here called "dogs." This one in particular is fascinated with my diapers. Who wouldn't be, really?
Here is Grandmama holding the one called "Mindie."

Here is me with Grandmama and Papa (they're Grandmom's parents. Everyone has parents, it's so weird!)Grandpops is obsessed with this weird goat. The goat sings "High on the hill lived a lonely goat herd" from The Sound of Music. Basically the whole house goes insane with delusions of operatic grandeur whenever the goat sings. Get me out of here, they're insane!

I'm much more interested in my toes lately. Grandmom calls these my "piggies." I don't call her the Crazy Lady for nothing, folks.

Between playing with my goat, banging stuff on my new high chair and eating my feet, sometimes I just like to kick back and hang out.

And bounce.

And play with Mama!
Well, it's getting to be my bedtime people. I'll catch you on the flipside!
Until then, I remain your humble adorable baby,
Silas T. Hickox
